Early-onset Alzheimer’s disease with depression as the first symptom: a case report with literature review

Abstract: BackgroundAlzheimer’s disease is a common neurodegenerative disease, and patients with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease (onset age < 65 years) often have atypical symptoms, which are easily misdiagnosed and missed. Multimodality neuroimaging has become an important diagnostic and follow-up method for AD with its non-invasive and quantitative advantages.Case presentationWe report a case of a 59-year-old female with a diagnosis of depression at the age of 50 after a 46-year-old onset and a 9-year follow-up… Show more

“…This study showed that the incorporation of the C-3 side chain elicits subtle differences in curiosity and emotion in animal models of motor function. Ongoing clinical studies have advanced our understanding of the behavioral domains in neuropsychiatric conditions and have sought their potential management [ 184 , 191 , 192 , 193 , 194 , 195 , 196 , 197 , 198 , 199 ]. Furthermore, computational strategies accelerate our advancement in comprehending their pathology, as well as in developing novel strategies for the management of neurological and psychiatric disorders, including neurotropic computer-assisted drug design [ 200 , 201 , 202 , 203 , 204 , 205 , 206 , 207 , 208 ].…”

“…Advances in neuroimaging and NIBS techniques have enabled researchers to explore the underlying mechanisms of disorders such as depression, SCZ, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorders [ 152 , 153 , 154 , 155 ]. Identifying the neural circuits and networks involved in these disorders can lead to targeted interventions that aim to modulate brain activity and restore normal function [ 152 , 156 ]. Therefore, if it is possible to check the psychological state using brain waves and pulse waves, it will contribute to preventing suicide accidents and safety accidents caused by human error.…”

“…The absence of efficacious disease-altering treatments for the majority of neurodegenerative disorders, which restricts the available choices and results for patients and caregivers; The ethical and practical considerations associated with carrying out clinical trials and translational research in vulnerable and diverse populations, such as the elderly, children, and minority groups [ 36 , 37 , 38 ]. The integration and interpretation data derived from various origins and modes, including genetics, epigenetics, proteomics, metabolomics, imaging, electrophysiology, and neuropsychology [ 39 , 40 , 41 , 42 , 43 , 44 , 45 , 46 , 47 ]. The development and validation of novel methods, such as NIBS, artificial intelligence, and drug repurposing, which necessitate thorough examination and assessment of their safety, effectiveness, and mechanisms [ 11 , 48 , 49 , 50 , 51 , 52 , 53 , 54 ].…”
