Early neuropsychological tests as correlates of productivity 1 year after traumatic brain injury: a preliminary matched case–control study

Abstract: This study explored the relative strength of five neuropsychological tests in correlating with productivity 1 year after traumatic brain injury (TBI). Six moderate-to-severe TBI patients who returned to work at 1-year post-injury were matched with six controls who were unemployed after 1 year based on age, severity of injury, and Functional Independence Measure scores. In agreement with other research, 16,17,25 our findings also indicate that ratings of EF are associated with functioning globally and across various settings.…”

“…For example, Sherer et al [9] provided patients with TBI with cognitive assessments after they overcame post-traumatic amnesia and found that a combination of tests measuring dual performance, speed of performance and memory predicted whether or not patients returned to work. Ryu et al [10] administered cognitive assessments during inpatient rehabilitation and found that tests measuring attention and visual perception discriminate patients with TBI based on post-injury employment outcome.…”
