Early growth of camu-camu plants with nitrogen fertili- zation through fertirrigation

Abstract: The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of different doses of nitrogen (N), applied via fertirrigation, on the initial growth components of the camu-camu plants. It was conducted with the use of a randomized block experimental design with 5 treatments: 0; 40; 80; 120 and 160 kg ha-1 of N, eight replicates and seven plants per experimental parcel. The experiment lasted for a period of 270 days. The diameter of stem (mm) and the height of the plant (cm) were evaluated every 30 days and the number … Show more

“…In the state of Roraima, extreme north of Brazil, the occurrence of native camu-camu populations is significant, but the fruit availability is not continuous due to its production being seasonal, that is, influenced by the edaphoclimatic factors (Abanto et al, 2016;Chagas et al, 2015). In addition, due to camu-camu is a species which is in the domestication process, little is known about the ideal conditions of planting on dry land, due to the lack of work aimed at this line of research (Viégas et al, 2004).…”

“…(Dias et al, 2012). In addition, it is relevant in the initial in-field growth evaluation of fruit trees (Abanto-Rodríguez et al, 2016). The higher the value of such index, the higher the seedling quality standard (Gomes et al, 2003).…”

“…Additionally, the vegetative quality index (VQI) of the camu-camu clones was determined using the joint analysis of H, NTB, BSD, and Chl a. The reference parameters were adopted from those reported by Abanto et al (2011) and Abanto-Rodríguez et al (2016). For H, 2.96 m was used as a reference; for NTB, a value of 70 was used; 30 mm for BSD; and 37.15 for Chl a content.…”
