Early deprivation and home basal cortisol levels: A study of internationally adopted children

Abstract: Animal studies reveal that early deprivation impairs regulation of the hypothalamic-pituitaryadrenocortical (HPA) axis, potentially increasing vulnerability to stressors throughout life.
