E-Commerce and the Factors Affecting Its Development in the Age of Digital Technology: Empirical Evidence at EU–27 Level

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to identify the factors influencing e-commerce and to evaluate the long and short-term impacts on the development of e-commerce activity. After establishing the hypotheses to verify, we use multiple panel regressions to test the influence of education level, consumer’s residence, consumer’s labour market status, internet banking, mobile and non-mobile users on the development of e-commerce. For this matter, in this paper, by adopting the fully modified ordinary least squares (FMOLS… Show more

“…This can be a meaningful indicator for predicting the future growth potential or direction of Internetonly banks that offer mobile banking as their main service. "Mobile banking services" are financial services that provide users with the ability to transfer funds between accounts, confirm transaction details, and perform direct payments using microbrowsers on their mobile phones through WAP, Java, and GPRS [13]. These services allow customers to bank on the move and without space constraints, which allows them to save the time and effort they would have spent if they were using existing PC-based Internet banking.…”

“…These services allow customers to bank on the move and without space constraints, which allows them to save the time and effort they would have spent if they were using existing PC-based Internet banking. Moreover, the services offered by Internet-only banks, such as KakaoBank, are making multidimensional efforts to facilitate sustainability in addition to securing customers by developing intimacies based on the giant platform called KakaoTalk, which is differentiated from the services provided by existing "Mobile banking services" are financial services that provide users with the ability to transfer funds between accounts, confirm transaction details, and perform direct payments using microbrowsers on their mobile phones through WAP, Java, and GPRS [13]. “…Because the populations in rural areas are not compact and dense, and rural e-commerce is only in its infancy, the logistical capability of the rural shopping mall system does not match that of the urban e-commerce system. Building a sound and complete logistics platform is also an important channel for rural e-commerce to catch up with urban e-commerce [13].…”

“…remedial measures for influential outliers and non-normal distribution ways effective for large amounts of contamination and are not easy to sionally, it is essential to keep outliers in the data and not remove them moving data will reduce the sample size, which is not good from an est Figure 4 shows the presence of outliers in the datasets of our variables. As we mentioned in the previous section, it is necessary to identify these outliers, and if they are many, it is recommended to use robust regression for a more robust analysis [50]. As it can be seen, all the variables in the model present one or more outliers.…”

“…To strengthen the results obtained by applying the S-estimator to the proposed model, we additionally performed the Granger causality test [45,50], the results of which are specified in Figure 5. We notice that regarding the direction of causality between the variable of the Granger test indicate a direct causality on the performance of the fisca the higher speed broadband (BC100), as well as from the modern technologic ture (NGA), which can also support higher data transmission speeds.…”
