Abstract: Many Zika virus (ZIKV) pathogenesis-related studies have focused primarily on virus-driven pathology and neurotoxicity, instead of considering the possibility of pathogenesis as an (unintended) consequence of host innate immunity: specifically, as the side-effect of an otherwise well-functioning machine.
