Dynamics of Inflation, Interest and Exchange Rates with the Effects of Money Supply and GDP in Nigeria: Evidence from BVARX Models

Abstract: Economic theory revealed evidence of interrelationships among inflation, interest and exchange rates. Such theory further states possible effects of money supply and GDP on inflation, interest and exchange rates. This study focuses on the dynamic interrelationships among inflation, interest and exchange rates with the effects of money supply and GDP in Nigeria using Bayesian Vector Autoregression with Exogenous variables (BVARX) models. To achieve this, data was sourced from the Central bank of Nigeria (CBN) w… Show more

“…The study variables include Solid Waste Generation (SW) measured in tons, representing the total amount of waste generated within a specific year; rainfall measured in millimeters of precipitation annually across the selected regions in Nigeria; and temperature which is measured in degrees Celsius. The dynamics among these variables are analyzed using a Vector Error Correction Model (VECM), which extends the framework of a vector autoregressive (VAR) model by integrating an error correction term into each equation (Adenomon, et al, 2017). The inclusion of the error correction term in each equation of the VAR accounts for the disequilibrium between variables in the short run, allowing for the analysis of the adjustments that occur in response to any deviations from the long-run equilibrium.…”

“…Adenomon and Oduwole [20] examined the dynamic interrelationships among inflation, interest and exchange rates with the effects of money supply and GDP in Nigeria using Bayesian Vector Autoregression with Exogenous variables (BVARX) models. The study used data spanning the period of 2010Q1-2020Q4.…”

“…The place of education in national transformation has been studied over the years (Mpofu, 2013;Turkkahraman, 2012;Kayani et al, 2017). Furthermore, the roles of industries and agriculture in national development have also been the subject of intense study (Diao et al, 2010;Agarwal & Agarwal, 2017;Adenomon & Oyejola, 2013). However, much attention has not been paid to the impact of education on the growth of industry and agriculture.…”
