Dynamics of frontal crash in/without the presence of passive safety systems

Abstract: The paper aims to debate on experimental retrieved accelerations from real crash tests, based on different scenarios, to enable assessment on driver potential injury. Scenarios included the presence of passive safety systems (e.g., airbag, seat belt) and test data are being processed to estimate the head injury criteria (HIC) followed by its correlation with abbreviated injury scale values (AIS). A dummy, average male resemblance, was developed in-situ and used in the experimental configuration. Signals were b… Show more

“…It also entails structurally optimizing the geometries involved in order to allow for more energy absorption and, as a result, ensure the passengers vitality (Prabhaharan et al, 2022;Qu et al, 2022;Supian et al, 2022). On the other hand, there is a large diversity of research on structural mechanical behavior when there is a frontal accident, for the most diverse transportation modes (Ionut Alexandru et al, 2022;Kim et al, 2022;Rivera-Hern andez et al, 2022). In this regard, there is a gap in the study of frontal accidents involving tourist buses, as well as the use of methodologies that are not entirely dynamic for this purpose.…”
