Dynamics of chitosan based NPK-nanofertilizers in greenhouse cucumber production system

Abstract: Aim: To study the effect of NPK-nonofertilizers on growth, reproductive and yield parameters as well as nutrient recovery efficiency in greenhouse cucumber. Methodology: The performance of greenhouse cucumber cultivar KPCH-1 was studied using six treatments namely 100% RDF(90:75:75 kg ha-1) through water soluble fertilizer (WSF), 60% RDF as nanofertilizer, 50% RDF as nanofertilizer, 40% RDF as nanofertilizer, 30% RDF as nanofertilizer and absolute control. Growth, reproductive and yield parameters of greenhou… Show more

“…The previous investigations have focused only on the interaction mechanism between urea and chitosan nanoparticles, which are known as urea chitosan nanohybrid (CS-urea NH), and not only on the plant's response to this hybrid fertilizer. However, the mixtures of NPK synthetic fertilizers and CS NP hybridization were investigated for enhancing growth and productivity of wheat [28], cucumber; Cucumis sativus L. [29], and potato; Solanum tuberosum L. [30]. Until now, the application of urea chitosan nanoparticles in paddy fertilization practices has remained unexplored or limited.…”

“…According to Jubeir and Ahmed (2019), using nano fertilizers and NPK enhances the vegetative and fruit characteristics of date palm. The greenhouse cucumber fertigated with 40% RDF as nano fertilizer recorded maximum number of pickings and number of fruits per vine accounting for maximum increase in marketable yield compared to water soluble fertilizers (Modi et al 2021). Benefits of nanoparticle application in fruit crops include fruit productivity, quality and shelf life through their positive effects on anatomical, morphological, physiological, physicochemical and molecular traits (Sharma et al 2021) The utilization of nanotechnology in fruit crops especially banana still remains unexplored.…”
