“…In a previous work, our group observed slight variations in the CD4 + memory subsets CD62L low /CD45RB low of splenic lymphocytes in mice of both ''cure'' and ''non-cure'' phenotype infected with L. infantum (Gomes-Pereira et al, 2004b). Together, these results indicate that perhaps CD45RB may not be a suitable marker for Treg subsets that expand during L. infantum BALB/c infection and that cells with this phenotype may not be directly involved in suppressing effector immune response.…”

“…Previous reports have shown that upon activation of T effs , surface CD62L is usually decreased [35-37]. However, T regs normally maintain CD62L expression and functional phenotype [38].…”

“…Monoclonal antibodies against a canine CD45 homologue, canine phagocytes, canine CD45RA and canine CD45RB antigens were used. Naïve T cells, helper T cells secreting IFN-g and a wide range of B cells express the high molecular weight (220-240 kDa) CD45RA antigen (Cobbold and Metcalfe, 1994;Zuckermann et al, 1998), while the CD45RB antigen has been associated to CD4 + T cells that had been activated in the course of a viral (Varga and Welsh, 1996) or protozoan (Gomes-Pereira et al, 2004) infection. Fine-needle aspirations, as performed in the work described below, can allow repeated (Barrouin-Melo et al, 2006) evaluations of splenic changes in dogs, contrasting with the surgical or necropsy procedures used in most reports on the pathological alterations of CVL.…”
