“…18 A high VE/VCO 2 slope, an important prognostic marker in patients with HF, derived from CPET, 4,41 has been inversely associated with 6MWD. 4,50 On the other hand, in a randomized trial, in older patients with HF with preserved ejection fraction, 6MWD did not correlate with measures obtained from CPET and thus its usefulness as a test of functional capacity in this population has been challenged. 53…”

“…It has been previously shown that CPET parameters such as VO 2 peak, VO 2 max and anaerobic threshold are the best indicators of functional capacity in patients with HF. 4,41 Several studies have shown moderate-to-strong correlations of 6MWD with peak aerobic capacity (peak VO 2 ) in CPET in HF populations (Table 2); 2,4,7,10,13,18,4251 in patients with HF being evaluated for transplantation, a 6MWD < 350 m has a sensitivity of 71% and specificity of 60% for predicting VO 2 max <14 ml/kg/min. 5,52 Maximal power output during the CPET was found to be also independently associated with 6MWD.…”

“…For the patients over 40 years of age, a HR limit of 130 beats/min and a MET level of five are often used. The submaximal test is fit for hospitalized patients and maximal utilizing gas exchange is used to evaluate congestive heart failure and timing for heart transplantation [2730].…”

“…The maximal test is most commonly used and appropriate for general individual. Both Submaximal and Maximal EST are generally performed on a treadmill [2730].…”

“…Both respiratory rate and TV have been studied as indicators of the anaerobic threshold [2], [3], which is related to the fitness level. The assessment of the fitness level results interesting for heart failure patients [4] and for athletes. Respiration monitoring techniques are usually based on plethysmography, pneumography or spirometry.…”
