Dynamically Tunable Dual-Frequency Terahertz Absorber Based on Graphene Rings

Abstract: A dual-frequency absorber with periodic double-layer graphene ring arrays separated by dielectric spacer is proposed. Coupled-mode theory and finite difference time domain method are used to analyze the perfect absorption and the absorption mechanism. Moreover, the influences of structural parameters and chemical potential of graphene on the peak positions have been investigated. Benefiting from chemical potential can be controlled by external bias voltage, thus the proposed structure can be used as a dynamica… Show more

“…70 Regarding the impact of environmental changes on the electromagnetic parameters of materials, researchers use the changes in electric field, magnetic field, and temperature to achieve dynamic adjustability. In recent years, commonly used materials are Dirac semimetal (BDS), 71,72 alum dioxide (VO 2 ), [73][74][75][76][77] and graphene, [78][79][80][81][82] wherein BDS is a novel topological quantum material. Similar to graphene, its Fermi energy and dielectric constant can be tuned through gate voltage.…”

“…For most of the practical applications, tunable absorption is preferred. In the THz frequency range, the following active materials, such as graphene [21][22][23], thermal [24][25][26][27], phase change materials [28][29][30], and intensity tunable materials [31,32], are used for the controllable absorption.…”
