Dynamical Resurrection of the Visibility in a Mach-Zehnder Interferometer

Abstract: We study a single-electron pulse injected into the chiral edge-state of a quantum Hall device and subject to a capacitive Coulomb interaction. We find that the scattered multi-particle state remains unentangled and hence can be created itself by a suitable classical voltage-pulse V (t). The application of the inverse pulse −V (−t) corrects for the shake-up due to the interaction and resurrects the original injected wave packet. We suggest an experiment with an asymmetric MachZehnder interferometer where the ap… Show more

“…The remarkable result of ref. [14,15] has triggered several relevant theoretical contributions [9,17,[27][28][29][30] in which the property and potential use of the Lorentzian voltage pulses are discussed. An experimental implementation has been recently done [31].…”

“…We note that in Ref. 18, an asymmetric Mach-Zehnder interferometer was discussed in a context different from our study, to show that a voltage pulse is applied to undo the distortion of a single-particle wave packet due to a capacitive Coulomb interaction.…”
