Dynamical properties of hybrid automata

Abstract: Abstract-Hybrid automata provide a language for modeling and analyzing digital and analogue computations in real-time systems. Hybrid automata are studied here from a dynamical systems perspective. Necessary and sufficient conditions for existence and uniqueness of solutions are derived and a class of hybrid automata whose solutions depend continuously on the initial state is characterized. The results on existence, uniqueness, and continuity serve as a starting point for stability analysis. Lyapunov's theorem… Show more

“…This model easily fits into standard modeling frameworks for hybrid systems (see, e.g., [10,6,11]), and the reader can consult these references for background and further technical details. The description to be provided here is somewhat informal, but it is sufficient for presenting the results.…”

“…Since V 1 and V 2 are positive definite and radially unbounded, there exist functions α 1,x , α 2,x , α 1,µ , α 2,µ ∈ K ∞ such that (6) and (8) hold. Using (22), (24), and (32), we obtain…”
