Dynamical preparation of stripe states in spin-orbit-coupled gases

Abstract: In spinor Bose-Einstein condensates, spin-changing collisions are a remarkable proxy to coherently realize macroscopic many-body quantum states. These processes have been, e.g., exploited to generate entanglement, to study dynamical quantum phase transitions, and proposed for realizing nematic phases in atomic condensates. In the same systems dressed by Raman beams, the coupling between spin and momentum induces a spin dependence in the scattering processes taking place in the gas. Here we show that, at weak c… Show more

“…Excited-state quantum phase transitions have received a great deal of attention in many systems, fostered by detection of their precursors in molecular spectra [16][17][18][19], superconducting microwave billiards [20], and spinor condensates [21]. In the last case, some promising developments have been recently published [22,23]. Reference [24] is a review on different aspects of ESQPTs with an extensive reference list.…”

“…Other systems where signatures of ESQPTs have been detected in experimental results are superconducting microwave billiards [42] and spinor Bose-Einstein condensates [43]. In the latter case, recently published works include some promising developments [44,45].…”

“…This is particularly complex for systems with several control parameters and a complex phase diagram. ESQPTs have been studied in different quantum many-body systems: the single [62] and coupled [69] Lipkin-Meshkov-Glick models, the Gaudin model [70], the Tavis-Cummings and Dicke models [63,71], the interacting boson model [50], the kicked-top model [72], periodic lattice models [73,74], or spinor Bose-Einstein condensates [75,76]. It has been paid special heed to the influence of ESQPTs on the dynamics of quantum systems [77][78][79][80][81][82][83][84][85][86][87] and to a possible link between ESQPTs and thermodynamic transitions [88,89].…”
