Dynamical Casimir–Polder force on a two-level atom with superposition state in a cavity comprising a dielectric

Abstract: We study the dynamical Casimir-Polder force on a two-level atom with different initial states in the one-dimensional dielectric cavity with output coupling, and obtain the analytical expression of the expectation value of dynamical Casimir-Polder force. Results show that the expectation values of dynamical Casimir-Polder force may be affected by the initial states of the atom. Moreover, the expectation value of Casimir-Polder force may vanish at some special atomic positions by properly selecting the initial s… Show more

“…Similar to the Casimir effect [6] which predicts the attractive interaction between two huge parallel metal plates, the Casimir-Polder force [7] between the macroscopic object and neutral polarization particles is nowadays attracting more and more attentions [8][9][10][11][12][13][14][15] due to its wide applications in quantum information processing and design of quantum devices. Combining the recent process in waveguide QED and studies about the Casimir-Polder force, we here investigate the interplay between the photon propagation in the waveguide and Casimir-Polder force.…”

“…The dynamical CP force between the cavity wall and the ground state atoms is attraction [17][18][19]. Conversely, the dynamical CP force between the cavity wall and the excited state atoms is repulsive [20,21]. In this paper, the transition between the repulse and attractive CP force by adjusting the initial state of the two-level atom is studied.…”
