Dynamic Spectrum Sharing for Future LTE-NR Networks

Abstract: 5G is the next mobile generation, already being deployed in some countries. It is expected to revolutionize our society, having extremely high target requirements. The use of spectrum is, therefore, tremendously important, as it is a limited and expensive resource. A solution for the spectrum efficiency consists of the use of dynamic spectrum sharing, where an operator can share the spectrum between two different technologies. In this paper, we studied the concept of dynamic spectrum sharing between LTE and 5G… Show more

“…Moreover, several surveys such as [28]- [30] on coexistence studies in unlicensed frequency bands have been addressed in the existing literature. Regarding DSS for LTE and NR coexistence, numerous research works, including [31]- [35], [22], [1] have also addressed the DSS for the coexistence of LTE and NR systems from a specific set of viewpoints. For example, in [31], authors have proposed a novel DSS scheme using the dual bargaining game approach to address diversified service requirements in LTE and NR coexisting network platforms by adopting the idea of cooperative game theory and different allocation rules.…”

“…The concept of DSS for the coexistence of LTE and 5G NR is studied in [35], and a solution is presented to allow operators to offer both LTE and NR services on the same frequency bands. A sharing ratio is defined as the ratio of shared resources between NR and LTE systems.…”

“…The need for measurable communications security in the Internet-of-Things (IoT) and Cyber-Physical Systems (CPSs) frameworks [ 14 , 15 , 16 ] has recently necessitated the establishment of an appropriate paradigm. SHIELD, which comprises the methods and techniques for designing secure embedded systems [ 17 ], is an important step taken in this direction.…”

“…Besides the pioneering and leading of TV White Space (TVWS) technologies (e.g., IEEE 802.11af [4] and IEEE 802.22b [5]) for the deployment of Wireless Regional Area Networks, cognitive networks have also emerged as a technological solution for more efficient use of spectrum in the mobile cell infrastructure. For instance, Ericsson has introduced a cognitive spectrum sharing technology for dynamically distributing the spectrum between 4G and 5G devices as a function of the throughput demand and users density, as well as dynamically allocating more spectrum for carrier aggregation [6]. However, the DSA is only performed for the domain of a single network operator and for splitting the spectrum bandwidth as a function of the throughput demand between 4G and 5G users.…”
