Dynamic simulation and exergetic optimization of a Concentrating Photovoltaic/ Thermal (CPVT) system

Abstract: The design and performance evaluation of a novel parabolic-trough concentrating photovoltaic/thermal (CPVT) system are discussed in the present study. Initially, the system design and manufacturing procedures as well as the characteristics of the system subcomponents are thoroughly illustrated. At a second stage, the findings in regard to the optical quality of the parabolic trough are presented, as obtained through an experimental procedure that utilizes a custom-made measuring device. The device bears a grid… Show more

“…For example, Herez et al [26] discuss a triangular geometry SRC-PVT model and consider the PV to be in direct contact with the environment. In contrast, Karathanassis et al [45] present a model of a rectangular-geometry SRC-PVT with seven different layers. The first layer is a glass cover that isolates the PV from the environment.…”

“…For example, in agricultural applications, since a variety of objects are to be detected, changes in the environment will have diferent contents to collect information, so it is necessary to collect temperature, humidity, soil salinity, and sunlight information. Te function and energy consumption of each sensor node are diferent, and the node performance is also different [11,12]. Terefore, this type of sensor network is called a "heterogeneous network," and a wireless sensor network is one of the most representative networks.…”

“…The optical performances significantly affect the energy efficiency of a CPV system. In fact, only a well-sized optical system can adequately concentrate the solar radiation on the TJ cells ensuring a high electric producibility [20]. The geometrical concentration factor (C geo ) is equal to the ratio between solar concentrator area (A conc ) and TJ cell area (A c )…”
