Dynamic fracture of a rectangular limited-permeable crack in magneto-electro-elastic media under a time-harmonic elastic P-wave

Abstract: a b s t r a c tThe dynamic behavior of a rectangular limited-permeable crack deeply embedded in transversely isotropic magneto-electro-elastic media was investigated under an incident harmonic stress wave using the generalized Almansi's theorem and the Schmidt method. With the help of the Fourier transform, this problem was formulated into three pairs of dual integral equations with the jumps in displacement across the crack surfaces as the unknown variables. By directly expanding the jumps in displacement acr… Show more

“…The transient response of a magneto-electro-elastic material with a penny-shaped or two collinear dielectric cracks under an in-plane magneto-electromechanical impact is investigated by Zhong and Zhang (2010). The harmonic stress analysis of a transversely isotropic magneto-electro-elastic medium containing a rectangular limited-permeable crack was studied by Zhang (2011).…”

“…For instance, employing the Hankel transform, Feng et al [40], Zhong and Li [41] and Wang et al [42] separately investigated a pennyshaped crack and obtained the magneto-electro-elastic field. Making use of the generalized Almansi's theorem and the Schmidt method, Zhang [43] studied the dynamic behavior of a rectangular limited-permeable crack under an incident harmonic stress wave, and obtained the analytical solutions in terms of Jacobi polynomials.…”

“…To date, there were some investigations that took into account the dynamic fracture problems of the MEE materials. These studies include the transient response of the cracked solids under impact loads (Feng et al, 2005(Feng et al, , 2009Su, 2006, 2007;Feng and Liu, 2007;Li, 2005;Rangelov et al, 2011;Wang et al, 2010;Yong and Zhou, 2007;Zhong et al, 2009), the elastic wave scattering induced by cracks (Du et al, 2004;Li and Lee, 2009;Rojas et al, 2010;Zhang, 2011;Wang, 2006, 2008) and the coupled fields produced by the moving crack at a constant speed and with a fixed length (Hu and Li, 2005;Hu et al, 2007;Zhong and Li, 2006;Tupholme, 2009).…”
