Dynamic Equivalent Modeling of a Grid-Tied Microgrid Based on Characteristic Model and Measurement Data

Abstract: Abstract:Microgrids can significantly improve the utilization of distributed generation (DG) and the reliability of the power supply. However, in the grid-tied operational mode, the interaction between the microgrid and the distribution network cannot be ignored. The paper proposes an equivalent modeling method for the microgrid under grid-tied mode based on a characteristic model. It can simplify the microgrid model in the numerical simulation of the distribution network. The proposed equivalent model can pre… Show more

“…The idea beyond the equivalent modeling approach is define and identify an Equivalent Dynamic Model (EDM), usually composed by a set of differential equations, able to reproduce the system dynamics [18]- [20]. Generally, measurement-based methods [21]- [22] are preferred to other approaches since they do not require a detailed a priori knowledge of the real system. In [23]- [25] artificial neural networks (ANNs) are used to identify EDMs for ADNs and microgrids, which can be considered as a special case of ADNs.…”

“…The need for local management of demand and supply of management of energy has assumed greater importance in the currently prevailing Covid-19 syndrome. To satisfy this energy security demand and to ensure a cleaner environment, renewable energy source integrated microgrid [1] , [2] , [3] , [4] , [5] , [6] , [7] system claims to be a potential community-scale solution. Considering the intermittency of renewable energy [RE] sources, multiple energy sources such as solar PV, biomass along with battery energy storage system (BESS) forming a hybrid microgrid [8] can be a potential solution.…”
