Technological innovation in modern systems has significantly improved their performance. However, fault characteristics such as epistemic uncertainty and dynamic failure modes often occur when these systems break down, which greatly raises some new challenges in fault diagnosis. A new fault diagnosis strategy for complex systems is presented based on multi-source heterogeneous information considering epistemic uncertainty in this paper. Specifically, in view of the epistemic uncertainty, the failure distribution parameters of basic events are described with interval numbers and test cost of these events are evaluated using domain experts and intuitionistic fuzzy linguistic set; Aiming at the problem of dynamic failure modes, a dynamic fault tree (DFT) is used to establish the dynamic failure model and is converted into a dynamic evidential network to calculate some reliability parameters; Furthermore, a diagnostic decision table is constructed based on multi-attribute heterogeneous information such as test cost and some reliability results; Finally, a novel fault diagnosis strategy is designed based on distance-based VIKOR algorithm, which can provide some decision support for fault diagnosis and locate the fault as quickly as possible.

Reliability evaluation foR vhf and uhf bands undeR diffeRent scenaRios via pRopagation loss model ocena niezawodności pRopagacji fal Radiowych pasm vhf i uhf w Różnych waRunkach teRenowych z wykoRzystaniem modelu utRaty mocy sygnałuThe significant effect of path loss on the reliability of very high frequency (VHF) and ultrahigh frequency (UHF) bands propagation has drawn much attention. Previous works mainly focus on the reliability evaluation for infrastructures and basic equipment, however, its propagation reliability has not been taken into full consideration. This paper proposes a new method for evaluating the reliability of the wireless communication based on the analysis of the traditional outdoor wave propagation loss models. In the reliability evaluation of the radio communication, we firstly consider the transmission frequency, the antenna height, the cell type and the communication distance. Then, we use a lognormal distribution to fit the random distribution curve of the communication distance so that the relationship between the path loss value and the reliability can be analysed. We further derive the probability distribution function (PDF) and the cumulative distribution function (CDF) of the path loss value from different antenna correction factors, cell type correction factors and terrain correction factors. Finally, we calculate the radio communication reliability values at different frequencies based on the threshold of the propagation loss value. Compared with the reliability degree only considering the communication distance threshold, the influence of environmental factors on the reliability of the VHF and the UHF radio propagation has been analysed.

Dynamic fault trees are important tools for modeling systems with sequence failure behaviors. The Markov chain state space method is the only analytical approach for a repairable dynamic fault tree (DFT). However, this method suffers from state space explosion, and is not suitable for analyzing a large scale repairable DFT. Furthermore, the Markov chain state space method requires the components’ time-to-failure to follow exponential distributions, which limits its application. In this study, motivated to efficiently analyze a repairable DFT, a Monte Carlo simulation method based on the coupling of minimal cut sequence set (MCSS) and its sequential failure region (SFR) is proposed. To validate the proposed method, a numerical case was studied. The results demonstrated that our proposed approach was more efficient than other methods and applicable for repairable DFTs with arbitrary time-to-failure distributed components. In contrast to the Markov chain state space method, the proposed method is straightforward, simple and efficient.
