The dynamic behaviour of the superconductive to normal transition of PbIn alloys subjected to longitudinal external magnetic fields H∥ is investigated experimentally. The experimental data are compared with theoretical results of a electrodynamic theory obtained by Pippard and Lifshitz for type I superconductors. In the case H∥ » H∥ c the experimental results for type I and also for type II samples are in good agreement with the slightly modified electrodynamic theory. In the case H∥ ≈ H∥ c, however, this theory is not valid for both types and moreover an additional dependence of the transition time on the transport current is observed.
