Dynamic Analysis of Pre-Stressed Concrete Girder Bridge Using Csibridge Software

Abstract

Bridges are crucial transportation components that must be able to withstand seismic events to ensure public safety. Prestressed concrete bridges are commonly used, but their behavior under seismic loading conditions needs to be thoroughly studied. The research intends to investigate how bridges respond to seismic activity by utilizing the powerful FEM tool known as CSiBridge software, and aims to improve design methods and guidelines, enhance performance, and identify potential vulnerabilities and failure modes during earthquakes. As a result, a detailed design of a prestressed concrete bridge model was developed and examined throughout this study. The bridge under study has three 90 feet spans with a total width of 35 feet with four AASHTO-PCI BT-63 bulb-tee Precast Beams on thick cast-in-place. concrete deck Abutments are positioned at each end of the bridge. Verification of bridge superstructure components using the AASHTO LRFD code reference and the bridge modeling process using verified components through CSiBridge software was completed. Detail seismic design, including modal, pushover, and response spectrum analyses, was prepared for conduction on the model. Analyzing the entire model, including construction, materials, properties, and location-specific seismic conditions, constitutes the final step.
