Thirty-two temperature sensors, a solar radiation sensor, wind speed, and direction sensor were installed on the bridge for the field monitoring of structural temperature, solar radiation, and wind. The frequency was set at 60 min for 211 days. Empirical equations were used to predict the maximum vertical and lateral temperature gradients, and the daily maximum and minimum mean temperatures of the corrugated steel web box girder. The results showed that the temperature gradient of the corrugated steel web box girder was closely related to the temperature gradient of air. The vertical maximum temperature gradient occurred at 4 pm. The height of the box girder had a significant effect on the accuracy of the predicted vertical maximum temperature gradient. Compared with the section without encased concrete, the maximum temperature gradient of the encased concrete section was reduced by 10.48%. Encased concrete showed minimal effect on both the vertical and lateral temperature gradient of the top plate part, however, the effect on the vertical temperature gradient of the haunch reduced by 17.19%. The maximum temperature gradient of corrugated steel with a composite encased concrete section was 4.12°C, which was less than that of the section without encased concrete at 5.06°C. The encased concrete had a significant effect on the maximum temperature gradient of corrugated steel web with a 26.99% deviation.

Prestressed concrete girders with corrugated steel webs have received considerable attention in the past two decades due to their light self-weight and high prestressing efficiency. Most previous studies were focused on the static behavior of corrugated steel webs and simple beams with corrugated steel webs. The natural frequencies are very important characteristics when evaluating the dynamic responses of a bridge under external loads; however, very few studies have been conducted to investigate the dynamic behavior of full prestressed concrete girders or bridges with corrugated steel webs, and no simple formulas are available for estimating the natural frequencies of prestressed concrete girder bridges with corrugated steel webs. In addition, experimental work on full-scale bridges or scale bridge models is very limited. In this article, formulas for predicting the vertical bending vibration frequencies of prestressed concrete box girders with corrugated steel webs are proposed based on Hamilton’s energy variational principle. A one-tenth scale model is developed for an existing prestressed concrete box-girder bridge with corrugated steel webs. The frequencies predicted by the proposed formulas are compared to the finite element analysis results and also the experimental results from the scale bridge model. Good agreement is achieved between these results, indicating that the proposed formulas can provide a reliable and efficient tool to predict the vertical bending vibration frequencies of prestressed concrete box-girder bridges with corrugated steel webs.

An Indonesia natural asphalt was ultrasonically extracted with acetone and carbon disulfide to afford acetone-soluble fraction (F1), carbon disulfide-soluble fraction (F2) and residue (i.e., carbon disulfide-insoluble fraction, R2). F1 was analyzed with GC/MS and all the fractions were analyzed with FTIR. The results show that F1 is rich in hetero atomic compounds (HACs), 2-methyl alkanes (2-MAs) and phthalic acid esters (PAEs). The 2-MAs are a class of important biomarkers, in which the main peak carbons are C24 and C18. According to the proximate analyse, there is a sharply high content of ash (42.62%), which could be responsible for the increase in the yields of R2 in the natural asphalt. By FTIR analysis, the nitrogen- and oxygen-containing compounds, branched alkanes and esters (or lactones, etc.) are important components for the Indonesia natural asphalt.
