Dyadic Green's Function of an Elementary Point Source Above a Periodically-Defected-Grounded Dielectric Slab

Abstract: Abstract-A general formulation of Dyadic Green's function for a point source above a two-dimensional periodic boundary is presented in spectral form. This formulation is simplified by considering only the zero term of the infinite Floquet modes. Then it is applied to obtain the Dyadic Green's function of a printed source above a dielectric slab with periodically defected ground plane by using a generalized equivalent network of this defected ground plane. This equivalent network is obtained from the reflection… Show more

“…5 and 6, the total field, both the trapped surface waves of electric type (TM) and magnetic type (TE), and the lateral wave are calculated from (27) for E r 0Θ (r 0 , Θ, Φ) and (28) for E r 0Φ (r 0 , Θ, Φ), respectively. Graphs of the amplitudes of the components E r 0Θ (r 0 , Θ, Φ) and E r 0Φ (r 0 , Θ, Φ) for a unit horizontal dipole vs. the angular degrees of Θ are computed and shown in Figs.…”

“…Today, DGS for the microstrip lines that has engraved defects in the backside metallic ground plane has become one hot area in microwave integrated circuits (MIC) design [6] [16]. In numerous wireless communication systems, microstrip patch antennas are utilized widely because of their several benefits such as low profile, light weight, easy fabrication and conformability to mounting structure [12] [18].…”

“…In order to solve this problem, a Green's function technique is adopted [10][11][12][13][14][15][16]. According to the Reciprocity theorem, a response of a system to a source is unchanged when source and measurer are interchanged.…”
