DW-ZCC code based on SAC–OCDMA deploying multi-wavelength laser source for wireless optical networks

Abstract: In this paper, double weight zero cross correlation (DW-ZCC) code is proposed for spectral amplitude coding optical code division multiple access (SAC-OCDMA) system. DW-ZCC takes the advantages of two previously proposed SAC-codes namely modified double weight (MDW) and zero-cross correlation (ZCC) codes, while providing optimized code length and maximum cross-correlation of zero. Although the proposed code can be utilized in SAC-OCDMA system with any optical medium, this research work focuses on outdoor wirel… Show more

“…SAC-OCDMA technique is adapted to provide robust transmission and mitigation of the various adverse effects between the transmitter and receiver modules. Working principle of SAC-OCDMA system encompasses the translation of binary 1s or 0s into spectral domain by allowing or blocking desired bits through special arrangement of filters in the encoder module [10,11]. This generates multiple carriers to communicate the user information with relatively high spectral efficiency and built-in security [10].…”

This generates multiple carriers to communicate the user information with relatively high spectral efficiency and built-in security [10]. The family of spectral amplitude codes primarily includes two types of codes namely (i) zero-cross correlation (ZCC) and (ii) fixed in-phase cross correlation codes [11,12].…”

“…For instance, LED is used mainly in fiber to the home (FTTH) and Local Area Network (LAN) [14], whereas laser source is employed in long-haul applications such as Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) [18]. In the state-of-the-art, many authors consider coherent source for SAC-OCDMA systems for various applications such as Passive Optical Network (PON) [18][19][20][21], Free Space Optical (FSO) [22] and wireless optical networks [23].…”
