Abstract:Many of the advanced coal-based power generation technologies currently under development involve the pressurized handling and storage of feedstocks and residue. The handling of fine coal at atmospheric pressure has always presented problems associated with the risk of explosion. These problems are exacerbated at higher pressures. This paper presents the results of investigations to characterize explosions at pressure, to investigate preventative measures and to evaluate the potential for explosion suppression. Show more
