Durkheim, Émile

Abstract: Émile Durkheim (1858–1917) is commonly considered to be one of the key founders of sociology, and along with those like Max Weber and Karl Marx, of modern social science in general. He stressed functionalism and an empirical approach to studying social issues like suicide, religion, the divisions of labor in society, and education.
