Dual‐polarized high gain resonant cavity antenna for radio frequency energy harvesting

Abstract: A Fabry pérot antenna with a multilayer superstrate having nonuniform unit cells has been investigated as a receiving antenna for radio frequency (RF) energy harvesting applications. Here, the primary radiator is selected as a dual‐polarized aperture coupled microstrip antenna with a double‐layer superstrate. This antenna excites orthogonal polarizations, vertical (V) and horizontal (H) in the frequency band of 6.2 and 5.8 GHz, respectively, due to the presence of two orthogonal H‐shaped slots in its ground pl… Show more

“…Moreover, its profile is lower and its 3‐dB gain bandwidths are wider. Due to the single‐layer superstrate, the proposed FPRA is easier to assemble and exhibits a more stable structure than the ones with double‐layer superstrate presented in References 18–21. Although the FPRA presented in References 17 also has a single‐layer superstrate, its profile and frequency ratio are larger than that of the proposed FPRA.…”

“…The comparison of the proposed FPRA and some existing designs is shown in Table 2. Compared with the dual‐band and dual‐polarization FPRAs presented in References 20 and 21, the proposed FPRAs contains only a single‐layer superstrate. Moreover, its profile is lower and its 3‐dB gain bandwidths are wider.…”

“…The FP resonator antenna can also be designed to obtain dual polarization [15][16][17][18]. The most used way to realize dual polarization FP resonator antenna is adopting dual polarized feed [19][20][21]. A dual-polarized dielectric resonant antenna is designed and used as the source of the FP resonator antenna in [19].…”
