Dual drug-loaded nanoparticles on self-integrated scaffold for controlled delivery

Abstract: Antioxidant (quercetin) and hypoglycemic (voglibose) drug-loaded poly-D,L-lactideco-glycolide nanoparticles were successfully synthesized using the solvent evaporation method. The dual drug-loaded nanoparticles were incorporated into a scaffold film using a solvent casting method, creating a controlled transdermal drug-delivery system. Key features of the film formulation were achieved utilizing several ratios of excipients, including polyvinyl alcohol, polyethylene glycol, hyaluronic acid, xylitol, and algina… Show more

“…In contrast to that result, in the previous work the spectra of the physical mixture of quercetin / lecithin = 1 / 75 (in mass) [18] showed the characteristic peaks of pure quercetin in the range of 1480-1380, 1200-1100, 880-750 and 600-400 cm -1 [35]. “…PLGA can be hydrolyzed in the body and yield biodegradable lactic acid and glycolic acid. PLGA nanoparticles have been used as carriers for many phytochemicals such as quercetin and curcumin[6062]. Those phytochemical can either entrapped inside or adsorbed on the surface of PLGA nanoparticle [63].…”

“…We have successfully synthesized quercetin encapsulated NLCs and found that the aqueous solubility of quercetin increased about 1000-fold (Figure 2). Additionally, a sustained release pattern was observed in quercetin loaded nanoparticles including poly(lactic acid) or PLGA nanoparticles [60,106,107], SLNs and NLCs [108,109]. …”
