DT2, a PIXE spectra simulation and fitting package

Abstract: Recently, a new PIXE code, LibCPIXE, was produced as a variant to the old DATTPIXE package following a simulation-based approach usually not used in PIXE data handling. This approach required to merge the PIXE data handling code, LibCPIXE to NDF, a well-known code for handling RBS and other IBA methods data, and showed that complex structures in the samples can dramatically change the observed PIXE yields. A full stepwise process was then undertaken in order to produce a new PIXE data handling code that uses t… Show more

“…Similar descriptions have been used to fit proton induced X-ray emission (PIXE) spectra. [23,24] Attempts were made to assign a physical meaning to the rather empirical parts of the Hypermet function. It has six or seven free parameters at each given photon energy for the fit to measured response functions.…”

“…Campbell et al [24] have discussed in detail the satellite peaks in the tail range of a 55 Fe spectrum. Figure 9 shows the 55 Fe spectrum measured with the Si(Li) with the Au front contact together with a calculated Mn-K response.…”

“…High statistics spectra were collected (roughly 200 000 counts in the L α ) for proton energies from 700 keV to 1450 keV in steps of 50 keV, and for 1700 keV and 1950 keV. Spectra deconvolution was carried out using the new DT2 program fitting core [23]. This includes a Bayesian inference algorithm by Barradas [24], for determination of the error levels associated to the fitted line areas.…”

“…Spectrum was fitted using DT2fit code. [33] The details on the peak tails and escape peaks can also be seen. L b group details can also be observed in the lower figure where fitting residuals is also presented.…”
