“…The demographic characteristics of our sample reflect average characteristics of patients with treatment-resistant schizophrenia that are usually prescribed clozapine (de Filippis et al, 2021b). The larger number of males with clozapine-related DRESS most likely reflects the more frequent prescription of clozapine in males rather than females (Cacoub et al, 2011;Morán-Mariños et al, 2022). Interestingly, we found a male to female ratio of 1.3:1 for DRESS, which is only a bit lower than the 1.4:1 ratio reported for schizophrenia (Jongsma et al, 2019), thus confirming the overall overlapping trend between our findings and schizophrenia diagnosis and treatment epidemiology.…”
