“…Published reports of haematological changes include a case of agranulocytosis with features similar to sulphonamide-induced agranulocytosis (Evans and Tell, 1969); two cases of thrombocytopenia (Hammett, 1970); six cases of leucopenia, three transient, in 59 cases of urinary infection treated for three weeks (Hoigne et 01., 1969); one case of thrombocytopenic purpura (Kamat, 1970); four cases of neutropenia in 32 treated patients (j'tfcCarthy, 1969); one case of thrombocytopenia and agranulocytosis (Mohan, 1969); one case of thrombocytopenia (Mossner, 1969); three cases of neutropenia (Paulley, 1970) ; and 10 cases of leucopenia and four of thrombocytopenia, one with purpura which necessitated hospitalisation, in 35 cases of urinary infection treated for 14 days (Wegmuller, 1970). Temporary reductions in granulocytes have been reported in substantial proportions of some series, but without any evidence of a detrimental effect .…”
