First report of seaweed-associated yeast from Indonesia: Species composition and screening of their polysaccharides-degrading enzymes. Biodiversitas 23: 1408-1419. Yeast has been widely utilized in various industries due to its enzyme properties. Therefore, plenty of studies focus on exploring yeast biodiversity from diverse sources. However, there are limited reports regarding marine yeast biodiversity and its potential from Indonesia. This study aimed to isolate and identify the seaweed-associated yeast from Jepara in Central Java and Sepanjang Beach in Gunung Kidul, Yogyakarta, then examined their potential to produce extracellular polysaccharides-degrading enzymes (EPEs). Marine yeasts were isolated using standard marine agar (STD) and potato dextrose agar (PDA). All isolates were characterized by their salinity tolerance, morphology, and species confirmation using DNA barcoding. Three EPEs consisting of agarase, alginate-lyase, and carrageenase were screened using polysaccharides-enriched agar media. A specific agarase encoding gene was detected with specific primers. In total, 21 seaweed-associated yeast were successfully isolated from 6 seaweeds and noted as facultative marine yeast. The DNA barcoding study discovered that these yeasts belonged to 5 genera, consisted of Aureobasidium, Candida, Debaryomyces, Hortaea, and Rhodotorula. Moreover, Candida was noted as the most abundant genus (71.42%). It was noted that Hortaea werneckii MTJ.11 and MTJ.13 were positive for all enzymes; Aureobasidium melanogenum MTGK.31 gave a positive result for agarase and carrageenase; while [Candida] zeylanoides MTGK.23 only exhibited alginate-lyase activity. Unfortunately, none of the primers used to detect the presence of genes encoding polysaccharide-degrading enzymes were successfully amplified.

Windurojo Village in Kesesi District, Pekalongan Regency is one of the areas with the most susceptible to drought. Therefore, this study aims to assess community capacity against drought in Windurojo Village at the household level and to analyze the relationship between variables. This study used a livelihood asset approach with data collection focused on Serang Hamlet, which is the area with the worst drought. The results of the study stated that the livelihood asset with the highest scale in Serang Hamlet was human capital. The results of the crosstab analysis also show that human capital is related to other capital, but the Spearman correlation results show that the highest relationship is found in financial and physical capital. The scoring results show that the capacity of the community against drought in Serang Hamlet is mostly medium class capacity, only 5 families are of high class capacity. AbstrakDesa Windurojo di Kecamatan Kesesi, Kabupaten Pekalongan merupakan salah satu daerah yang paling rawan terhadap kekeringan. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menilai kapasitas masyarakat terhadap kekeringan di Desa Windurojo pada tingkat rumah tangga dan menganalisis hubungan antar variabelnya. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan aset penghidupan dengan pendataan terfokus pada Dusun Serang yang merupakan daerah dengan kekeringan terparah. Hasil penelitian menyebutkan bahwa aset penghidupan dengan skala tertinggi di Dusun Serang adalah modal manusia. Hasil analisis crosstab juga menunjukkan bahwa modal manusia berhubungan dengan modal lainnya, namun hasil korelasi Spearman menunjukkan hubungan tertinggi terdapat pada modal fisik dan finansial. Hasil skoring menunjukkan bahwa daya tampung masyarakat terhadap kekeringan di Dusun Serang sebagian besar kelas menengah dan hanya 5 kepala keluarga yang kelas tinggi.

Objective: This research aims to analyze the existing drought mitigation policies implemented in East Lombok Regency and evaluate their sustainability and effectiveness. Drought poses a significant threat to East Lombok Regency, Indonesia, potentially impeding sustainable development in the region. Theoretical framework: The study employs the Disaster Risk Reduction Approach as outlined in the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030. It involves mapping Drought Disasters as a problem, assessing the Impact of Drought Disasters (Risk), examining the role of Institutions, exploring methods for handling disasters through Drought Emergency Response solutions, addressing Education on drought disasters, and identifying Challenges and Recommendations for the future. Methodology: The research employs a qualitative approach involving the analysis of policy documents, interviews with stakeholders, and field surveys to gather data related to the implemented mitigation efforts. Results: The findings indicate the significance of having a Regional Disaster Management Master Plan to guide mitigation, preparedness, emergency response, and post-disaster recovery. However, it has not been developed in the study area. Current efforts for drought mitigation, preparedness, and emergency response mainly involve routine activities, such as distributing clean water to affected locations, suggesting the need for a more innovative approach. Conclusion: This study concludes that the absence of a Regional Disaster Management Master Plan hinders reactive and coordinated mitigation efforts. The sustainability of these programs is a significant concern and is crucial for establishing a robust strategic foundation for disaster management. Recommendation: The study emphasizes the urgent need to design a comprehensive Regional Mitigation Master Plan. This initiative aims to enhance coordination between institutions, strengthen community capacity, and ensure the sustainability of mitigation efforts. The research contributes to a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities in managing potential drought disasters in East Lombok Regency, providing a basis for more effective and sustainable policymaking. Research Implications: The research outlines the implications of formulating policy issues for designing a Regional Disaster Management Master Plan and establishing clearer regulations and Standard Operating Procedures in the future. These findings are crucial for guiding consistent and effective policies, ensuring a more diverse and resilient response to the challenges of recurring drought disasters in East Lombok Regency. Originality/Value: This research delves into the paradigm shift within the field of drought disaster management, which still relies on conservative methods. The study paves the way for new regulatory guidelines by incorporating several crucial points in the draft Regional Disaster Management Master Plan, including Drought Disaster Mitigation Policy, Drought Emergency Response, and Drought Disaster Education. This research contributes new insights to the field, providing a deeper understanding of drought disaster management. A notable challenge is the absence of formulated comprehensive Regional Disaster Management Master Plans by implementers, with the current reliance on temporary regulations established by the Regional Disaster Management Agency.
