Drop shape, size and canting angle Distributions in stratiform and convective rain: Some examples and their impact on XPD-CPA relation

Abstract: 1-minute drop size distributions in rain from measurements using 2D video disdrometer are used to identify stratiform and convective rain, and the respective drop shapes are examined separately. Canting angle distributions have also been determined in stratiform rain, under low wind conditions and confirmed independently using polarimetric radar based estimates. Studies are ongoing in this area.
