Purpose This paper aims to investigate the difference between the impacts of indicators of trade barriers (TBs) on bankrupt enterprises (BEs), new enterprises (NEs) and other enterprises (OEs). Design/methodology/approach The paper has used a multiple-step approach. At the first stage, the initial data has been collected from interviews with 164 top managers of SMEs in West Azerbaijan in Iran during two periods of 2013–2015 and 2017–2019. At the second step, multiple correspondence analysis has been used to summarize the relationships between variables and construct indices for different groups of TBs. Finally, the generalized structural equation model method was used to examine the impact of export barriers. Findings The results showed that the political legal index is the main TBs for BEs and NEs, but it had a more significant impact on BEs; the financial index was the second major TBs factor for BEs, while OEs did not have a problem in performance index, and the financial index was classified as a minor obstacle for them. All indicators of marketing barriers (except production index) had a negative and significant effect on all enterprises; the most important TBs for NEs was the information index. Originality/value The results indicated that if enterprises have a strong financial system and function, they can lessen the impact of sanctions and keep themselves in the market.

The software design of autonomous vehicles (AVs) incorporates artificial intelligence (AI) characteristics to enhance their safety and overall driving performance. Central to vehicle’s operation is the ability to reason effectively in complex and uncertain environments. However, traditional logical systems, such as monotonic logic, often struggle to handle the inherent uncertainties and exceptions encountered in real-world scenarios. This paper proposes the utilization of non-monotonic logic in order to enhance the reasoning capabilities of autonomous vehicles. By incorporating non-monotonic reasoning, vehicles can navigate intricate traffic scenarios, make plausible inferences, and adapt their decisions when faced with conflicting information. This research aims to provide a comprehensive review of non-monotonic logic's application in autonomous vehicles, highlighting its advantages over traditional logical systems and its potential impact on safety and performance. Additionally, through this research, we seek to contribute to the advancement of autonomous driving technology by enhancing the reasoning capabilities of vehicles in various scenarios, such as car- following related to critical safety events. The personalized cognitive agent is proposed in driving behavior to consider particularly in their assumptions of homogeneous drivers. The personalized cognitive agent is incorporating heterogeneous driving behaviors, based on individual user preferences, characteristics, and needs. Driving behavior is a complex interplay of various factors, encompassing both human and external elements. Human factors, including age, experience, and gender, contribute significantly to how individuals navigate the roads. These factors influence decisions, reactions, and risk-taking tendencies on the part of drivers. Additionally, external factors such as weather conditions further compound this intricate dynamic, requiring drivers to adapt their behavior to the prevailing environment. The goal of a personalized cognitive agent is to provide tailored and customized experiences to cognitive vehicles, taking into account the unique requirements and individual preferences of occupants inside autonomous vehicles.

Safe driving is a serious and challenging concern that is dependent on driver behaviors including aggressive, distracted, fatigued, and drowsy driving. In a smart society, in-vehicle monitoring of drivers and detecting abnormal driving behavior as anomalies can reduce the rate of road crashes. Existing surveys cover the various schemes for detecting on-road driver behaviors through sensing data. We have identified a gap in the linkage of driver's health or vehicle conditions to abnormal behaviors that are not yet covered. This work presents a taxonomy of schemes, and the analytical evaluation and identifies the open research challenges. The work specifically investigates the modeling of driver behavior and the detection of abnormal behavior, utilizing techniques such as AI-based image processing, signal processing, and traditional algorithmic approaches. This analysis encompasses methods and features based on both driver health and vehicle monitoring with the ultimate goal of ensuring safe driving. More specifically, existing approaches are classified in a coherent taxonomy by reviewing traditional mathematical, machine learning, and deep learning-based schemes. Moreover, a summary of schemes is presented to highlight the key points followed by a comprehensive analytical discussion. It aids in pinpointing research issues by leveraging the insights gained from the comparison. Finally, the work highlights the open research challenges for the researchers to provide innovative solutions.
