“…Fu et al have developed an approach to functionalize GO with meso -substituted formylporphyrins and further engaged them into photoinduced charge transfer and nonlinear optical studies, and finally to use in optoelectronic applications. 50 Robbins et al have extensively explored NLO properties of three expanded aceneporphyrinoids, establishing them as potential candidates for various photonic applications via core modification. They have also studied thoroughly the significant change in two-photon absorption cross-section of the molecules.…”

“…These results demonstrated the nonlinear optical property of the carbon dots was enhanced with rising reaction temperature. Combined with XPS results of the carbon dots, it can be deduced as the reaction temperature rises, the content of sp 2 carbon atoms in the carbon dots increases, and the Pauli-blocking of electrons in the sp 2 conjugated domain also gradually increases [ 50 , 51 ]. Therefore, the saturation absorption effect grows obviously.…”

“…1,2 Recent studies have demonstrated that highly conjugated macrocyclic systems, such as porphyrins/isoporphyrins, phthalocyanines, and their corresponding extended structures, display rapid and substantial NLO responses. [3][4][5] However, organic small molecules and oligomers easily dissociate and aggregate in harsh environments, and they often lack the required mechanical strength for practical applications. 6 Significantly, covalent organic frameworks (COFs) can effectively stabilize the molecular structure, enhance the number density of NLO response chromophores in rigid structures, and prevent aggregation.…”
