Down Regulation of Biofilm and Quorum Sensing Genes of Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Pasteurella multocida Isolated from Broiler Chicken Pericarditis Lesions by the Action of Some Essential Oils

Abstract: Pseudomonas and Pasteurella species have variant of virulence factors as biofilm genetic elements that form a thick coat surface surround pathogen and prevent its phagocytosis; also, quorum sensing genes which responsible for cell-to-cell communication and its inhibition are considered a new approach of antimicrobial therapy. The present investigation successes to identify of P. aeruginosa (85.2%) and P. multocida (41.8%) from broiler chickens pericarditis lesions by using Vitek2 compact system. Disc diffusion… Show more

“…Thus, the intestinal mucosa is an important determinant of gut health and performance of chickens (Rinttila and Apajalahti 2013). Gut microbiota plays an important role in nutritional, physiological, health status and it is the first barrier against pathogens and protective functions of poultry (Yeoman and White 2014;Raheel et al 2021). Gut microbiota is divided into beneficial bacteria (Lactobacilli and Bifidobacteria) and pathogenic bacteria (E.coli, Campylobacter and Salmonella) effects on the host (Li et al 2009).…”

“…The microbial in the gut have a significant effect on the availability and activity of nutrients through efficient nutrient consumption and storage. It also affects the host's ability to combat infection, and mainly serves to contribute to the host's health and performance (Rinttila and Apajalahti 2013;Raheel et al 2021).…”

“…Phytochemicals also known as phytobiotics or phytogenics that are added to animal feed to increase production. Phytochemicals are also proposed for use as antioxidants in animal feed, which will protect animals from oxidative damage caused by free radicals ( 33 , 34 ). These phytochemicals have a variety of mechanisms of action, including the inhibition of efflux pumps and target altering and drug degrading enzymes ( 35 ).…”

“…Outbreaks of the disease can lead to significant economic losses due to the death of sick animals, forced slaughter, reduced weight gain of animals, treatment costs, and general and special prevention and elimination of the disease (Raheel et al 2021). To effectively manage the disease, it is extremely important to apply prevention and to prevent pasteurellosis, it is necessary to ensure the protection of non-infected farms from the introduction of the pathogen through sick animals, Pasteurella carriers, control measures, such as advanced management methods and vaccination, to minimize the spread of the disease and reduce the impact of outbreaks on livestock (Peng et al 2019;Ryan and Feder 2019).feed, etc.…”
