Down-regulated miR-486-5p acts as a tumor suppressor in breast cancer patients by targeting the metastatic mediator ICAM-1

Abstract: Furthermore, we measured cytokine profiles of sera from 6 PDAC patients with elevated CSTA concentration in sera and 9 PDAC patients without elevation. We also examined the expression of CSTA, its substrate, cathepsin B, and cytokines, in tumor tissues in 20 surgically resected PDAC tissues by immunohistochemical staining. Results: We observed increment of CSTA mRNA expression in CD4þ cells of peripheral blood of 41 patients with PDAC compared with that in 20 healthy volunteers. Correspondingly, serum CSTA con… Show more

“…However, the role of ICAM1 and miR-486-5p remains unclear, especially the interaction of the two molecules. A previous study reported that down-regulation of miR-486-5p could suppress tumor metastasis by regulating metastatic mediator of ICAM-1 in breast cancer (Abdallah et al, 2017). It is speculated that ICAM-1 might be regulated by miR-486-5p and played a crucial role in development and metastasis of ESCC.…”
