Double Walled Carbon Nanotube/TiO2 Nanocomposites for Photocatalytic Dye Degradation

Abstract: Double walled carbon nanotube (DWCNT)/N,Pd codoped TiO 2 nanocomposites were prepared by a modified sol-gel method and characterised using FTIR, Raman spectroscopy, TGA, DRUV-Vis, XRD, SEM, and TEM analyses. TEM images showed unique pearl-bead-necklace structured morphologies at higher DWCNT ratios. The nanocomposite materials showed characteristic anatase TiO 2 Raman bands in addition to the carbon nanotube D and G bands. Red shifts in the UV-Vis absorption edge were observed at low DWCNT percentages. The pho… Show more

“…Firstly, the Raman characterization was carried out for its sensitivity. As shown in Figure 2a, both the two TiO2 samples exhibited Eg modes (143 cm −1 , 198 cm −1 and 639 cm −1 ), B1g mode (399 cm −1 ) and A1g mode (515 cm −1 ) [22]. However, compared to TiO2 before the reaction, the peak at 143 cm -1 of TiO2 had a slight blue shift after the photoreaction.…”

“…00-029-1360). For samples A-D, the carbon diffraction of the f-MWCNT peak at approximately 2𝜃 = 26.1° could not be clearly detected due to the possibility of overlapping with the high intensity of the TiO2 peak [22].…”

“…The discovery of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) in the early 1990s revolutionized the research in many fields, [79] such as nanoelectronics, biosensors, removable energy, solar system, and medicine. The latest application of CNTs was developed by Zettl and Cohen's laboratory, to detect coronavirus antigens within 15 mins at the early stages of infection.…”
