Double-targeting CDCA8 and E2F1 inhibits the growth and migration of malignant glioma

Abstract: High-grade glioma is the most common and aggressive primary brain tumor in adults with poor therapeutic efficiency and survival prognosis. Cell division cycle associated 8 (CDCA8) has been well known as a cell cycle regulator and tumor promotor in various malignant tumors. However, its biological role in glioma still remains unclear. Our results showed that high level of CDCA8 was significantly correlated with advanced WHO grade and poor overall survival and disease-free survival prognosis. In vitro and in viv… Show more

“…The cell migration and invasion were assessed using a transwell assay based on a previously published protocol ( Wang et al, 2021 ). The membrane in the chamber was cut and imaged using light microscopy (Olympus BX53, Japan) (×200 magnification), and the cell counts were obtained using ImageJ software.…”

“…Glioma is one of the most aggressive and common malignant cancer types affecting the central nerve system (CNS) (Chen et al, 2021a), (Wang et al, 2021), which poses a serious threat to human health worldwide. In elderly patients (age, >65 years), the 5-year survival rate is ~5% (Hendriks et al, 2019).…”

“…CCNA2 has been little studied in glioma, and its mechanism of action in glioma needs to be further investigated ( 18 ). CDCA8 acts as a cell cycle regulator and tumor promoter in gliomas and promotes tumor cell proliferation ( 23 ). CDC20 overexpression and its associated gene modules were characteristically elevated, signifying increased genomic instability in gliomas ( 24 ).…”
