Double talk protection of acoustic echo cancellation based on weighted-sum NLMS algorithm

Abstract: This paper presents a new method of doubletalk protection in Acoustic echo cancellation [AEC), named weighted-sum normalization. The weighted-sum method replaces the normalization term of the traditional NLMS algorithm by the sum of the weighted power of residue echo signal and the power of the reference signal. Emulation results on AEC have shown that this method can stabilize the adaptive filter in the case of the large fluctuation of the near-end signal, such as in double-talk situation.
