Double Diffusive Free Convection With Variable Physical Properties in an Unstable Stratified Media

Abstract

A detailed analysis is made to study the free flow effects of inverse variation of viscosity and linear variation of thermal conductivity on combined diffusion over a vertical surface in non-isothermal surroundings and the temperature of the surface varies linearly with the axial co-ordinate. The effects of chemical reaction together with suction or injection are also considered for aiding buoyancies. A careful investigation is carried out in reducing the governing equations into a system of non-linear ordinary differential equations to get similarity solutions for the problem. Numerical solutions of the equations subject to appropriate boundary conditions are solved by Modified Nachtsheim-Swigert technique for different values of the parameters involved. Important results related to the flow, heat and mass transfer characteristics are presented through tables.
