“…They have evaluated the dose distribution for a female adult mesh anthropomorphic phantom not only in the tumor but also in several healthy tissues. Table 3 presents a comparison between the dose (in percent) delivered to some sensitive organs due to the irradiation of 192 Ir source encapsulated in platinum [30] and our designed 252 Cf source. According to these data, it can be found that for our proposed shielded source, the esophagus which is located in the vicinity of the tumor receives about 30% of the total dose to the tumor, and the damage to the other investigated organs is predicted to be negligible.…”

“…Though the present study aims to investigate the efficiency of neutrons for delivering the desired dose to the target of interest, employing photon radioactive sources has previously been suggested in other works. For example, Neves et al [ 30 ] have accomplished a simulation-based study for brachytherapy of esophagus tumors using 192 Ir sources in three different configurations. They have evaluated the dose distribution for a female adult mesh anthropomorphic phantom not only in the tumor but also in several healthy tissues.…”

“…Good comparisons are presented for point mono-energetic source in water (Luxton & Jozsef, 1999;Almansa et al, 2006). While water phantoms are used for representing configurations similar to soft tissue, full anthropomorphic phantoms are also used to carry out detailed simulation for the dose (Neves et al, 2014) For MC simulations in brachytherapy (Lechtman et al, 2013;Mesbahi et al, 2013;Asadi et al, 2015) it has been shown that photon source energy and concentration are important factors that determine DEF while the size of GNPs is not so important (above the K-edge energy). Thus, in this work, a homogenous model with considerable savings on the computational effort, as well as a sensitivity capability is used to extract crucial information on the DEF from independent parameters.…”

“…Entre elas, se encontra o trabalhode Moura et al (2014), pesquisadores do IPEN, que calcularam a dose absorvida em regiões próximas da superfície em meio de PMMA para fontes de Irídio-192 de alta taxa de dose. No mesmo ano,Neves et al (2014), estimados pelo TPS comercial Flexiplan 3D. Os resultados foram significativamente diferentes em algumas regiões.…”
