“…The results of our study clearly indicate that the performance of this valve is comparable to that of other tilting disc valves in current clinical use. [5][6][7][8] In the MVR group, although the incidence of infective endocarditis (1.08%) was higher in comparison to other published values of bileaflet and tilting disc valves, the incidences of valve thrombosis, embolism, and bleeding were comparable. Our high incidence of infective endocarditis can be attributed to the poor living conditions of the patients, ignorance, and injudicious use of antibiotics.…”

“…Studies conducted by others have provided valid values for gradients across various types of prosthetic valve. [4][5][6][7][8] In our study, the peak and mean gradients measured across TTK Chitra valves in aortic position were 33.8 AE 19.6 and 21.9 AE 11.2 mm Hg, 27.2 AE 10.5 and 16.5 AE 7.1 mm Hg, and 19.1 AE 0.9 and 8.9 AE 0.9 mm Hg for sizes 19, 21, and 23, respectively. For sizes 25, 27, 29, and 31 in the mitral position, the gradients were 18.7 AE 7.1 and 7.9 AE 4.5 mm Hg, 13.8 AE 6.2 and 5.4 AE 2.5 mm Hg, 9.5 AE 3.3 and 4.3 AE 0.9 mm Hg, and 6.3 AE 1.9 and 3.0 AE 0.7 mm Hg, respectively.…”
