Dopamine Antagonist Speeds Up Tail Regeneration in Lizards Exposed to Continuous Darkness: Evidence for Prolactin Involvement

Abstract: In earlier studies, we demonstrated that continuous light (LL:LD, 24:O) stimulated tail regeneration wheras continuous darkness (DD:LD, 0:24) and pinealectomy depressed the same in the Gekkonid lizard, Hemidactylus flaviviridis, and, furthermore, exogenous prolactin significantly enhanced the regeneration process in lizards kept in 0:24 LD.
