Abstract:Background
Pattern recognition receptors (PRRs) serve as a hub of immune responses to microbes in the gut and play a critical role in maintaining intestinal homeostasis. Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) represents an important PRR that can recognize the gram-negative bacterial cell wall component lipopolysaccharide (LPS). Upon binding to LPS, TLR4 forms a multimeric complex with the indispensable co-receptor myeloid differentiation protein 2 (MD2) facilitating selection of TLR4 as cargo for endocy… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
