Abstract: The evolutionary transition to self-compatibility facilitates polyploid speciation. In Arabidopsis relatives, the self-incompatibility system is characterized by epigenetic dominance modifiers, among which small RNAs suppress the expression of a recessive SCR/SP11 haplogroup.
