Domain Analysis of the Research In Professional Competences, Technology and Engineering Cluster

This article provides a systematic review of the extensive and fragmented literature focused on Digital Transformation (DT) and marketing by identifying the main themes and perspectives (i.e., employees, customers, and business processes) studied by previous research. By mapping the DT literature in the area of marketing, 117 articles, published between 2014 and 2020, have been identified. Through the adoption of a content analysis process, a multi-dimensional framework synthesizing the DT and marketing binomial has been provided. Results identify two thematical patterns: the macro-themes, related to the main digital technologies adopted within the marketing function, and the micro-themes, related to the effect/impact of these technologies on marketing processes and activities. Concerning the micro-themes, findings show how they have mainly studied from the customer and business processes’ perspectives, thus identifying an interesting research gap related to the analysis of the DT-marketing phenomenon from the employees’ standpoint. Based on these results, the paper derives a research agenda by also providing theoretical and managerial implications. Theoretically, it is the first systematic and thematic review focused on DT and marketing. In particular, it analyses this binomial from a broad and comprehensive perspective, thus offering a synergistic framework of the existing literature, which allows an inclusive vision and understanding about the phenomenon. At the managerial level, the paper could help organizations to enhance their awareness about marketing areas and processes that could better benefit from digitalization, thus driving the overall transition of firms towards DT.

The article presents the technology of application of competence-based educational simulators in the informational and educational environment for learning general technical disciplines. It was designed the classification of competence-based educational simulators for learning general technical disciplines. There are presented types of educational simulators and outlined professional competencies of general technical disciplines that provide the developed types of simulators. On the basis of passing educational simulators it is formed not only a qualitative indicator of the educational results, but also an indicator of the formation of competencies in the course and curriculum. The method was tested using experimental group and control group (total 1301 students of specialties ‘Agricultural Engineering’, ‘Electrical Power, Electrical Engineering and Electrical Mechanics’, ‘Professional Education’ that studying general technical disciplines) by systematically measuring achievement of professional competencies in the conditions of informational and educational environment by using educational simulators. The results show that higher education applicants in the experimental group achieve better results of acquiring professional competencies.

Topicality of the research is determined by the fact that it addresses the issue of a gap between actual production and professional education. Digitalization creates ample opportunities for the development of the leading material production industries (transport industry is among them) due to the totality of technologies, including knowledge engineering. This fuels digital transformations of professional education. The form of syllabus presentation is changing due to the use of ontologies as a contemporary standard of knowledge representation, and this ensures semantic openness of educational resources. Information technologies in education are changing: the management of educational paths is assigned to artificial intelligent training agents (AI-based tutors). The existing model of education is changing: it is becoming personalized. Finally, the nature of interaction between the industry and industry-specific universities and colleges is changing as well. The paper provides a business model of interaction between production, science, and professional education through an integrated life cycle of knowledge. The knowledge management system of the industry-specific research and education complex is regarded as a mechanism for implementation of this model. Its structure and tools developed by the team of the Transport Information Technologies research laboratory in the Siberian Transport University (Novosibirsk) are described.
