Ao atuar nos campos da prevenção de agravos e da promoção, manutenção e recuperação da saúde baseada em modelo de humanizada e centrada na integralidade do indivíduo, a PNIPIC contribui para o fortalecimento dos princípios fundamentais do SUS. Nesse sentido, o desenvolvimento desta Política Nacional de Práticas Integrativas e Complementares deve ser entendido como mais um passo no processo de implantação do SUS. A inserção das práticas intregrativas e complementares, especialmente na Atenção Primária (APS), corrobora com um dos seus principais atributos, a Competência Cultural. Esse atributo consiste no reconhecimento das diferentes necessidades dos grupos populacionais, suas características étnicas, raciais e culturais, entendendo suas representações dos processos saúde-enfermidade. Considerando a singularidade do indivíduo quanto aos processos de adoecimento e de saúde -, a PNPIC corrobora para a integralidade da atenção à saúde, princípio este que requer também a interação das ações e serviços existentes no SUS. Estudos têm demonstrado que tais abordagens ampliam a corresponsabilidade dos indivíduos pela saúde, contribuindo para o aumento do exercício da cidadania. Nesse volume serão apresentadas pesquisas quantitativas, qualitativas e revisões bibliográficas sobre essa temática.

The aim of the study is to objectively evaluate the effects of Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure (LEEP) on women's sexual function using a validated questionnaire. Methods: This pre-post survey design study was conducted at a tertiary referral hospital gynecological oncology clinic. 80 sexually active patients who had undergone LEEP because of abnormal cervical cytology results between October 2018 and December 2018 were included. Participating patients answered the Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) questionnaire before undergoing LEEP and at 3 and 6 months after the procedure. The FSFI questionnaire consists of 19 multiple choice questions and it evaluates the following six aspects of female sexuality: arousal, lubrication, desire, orgasm, satisfaction, and pain. 9 patients were excluded for not coming to the follow-up appointments. Patients who had any systemic or psychological disease were excluded in order to avoid any additional variables that could affect sexual function. Results: Arousal, lubrication, desire, orgasm, satisfaction, and pain were evaluated in 71 patients. There was no statistical difference in sexual desire, lubrication, sexual satisfaction, and pain in between follow-up results and the baseline scores. However, there was a significant decrease in patients' orgasm scores and degree of arousal in the follow-up results compared to the baseline scores. Conclusion: Parameters such as orgasm and the degree of arousal, which are strongly connected with a patient's physical and psychological well-being, are affected by the procedure. We believe detailed information, psychological support, and even psychiatric consultation can have a beneficial effect on patients. Further studies with a larger sample and a control group and a longer follow-up interval should be performed to assess the effect of psychological precautions and to avoid sexual function disorders resulting from LEEP.

Objective: The frequency of detecting cervical dysplasias using cervical screening programs significantly increased nowadays. Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure (LEEP) is one of the most common methods used for the treatment of servical dysplasias. In this study, we investigated the effect of LEEP on female sexual functions Methods: Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) which has been reported as a reliable and valid measure also in our country was used to examine the female sexual functions in this study. Sexually active patients who were planned to be treated with LEEP were interrogated using FSFI, which includes subgroups of sexual desire, arousal, lubrication, orgasm, satisfaction and pain, and at 6. months of their follow-up, the same form was completed , and sexual function investigated. Results: In this study 35 patients treated with LEEP were investigated. The median age was 41 (range 29-52), and median parity was 2, while 60% of the patients were smokers. The mean of total FSFI scores before LEEP was 24.9±5.3, while it was 23.9±6.0 6 months after LEEP (p:0.121). In particular, the average sexual desire scores were found to be markedly lower before and after the procedure (respectively 3.3 and 3.2). Conclusion: Sexual dysfunction, especially deficient sexual desire, plays an important role in patients with cervical dysplasia treated with LEEP. However, there was no significant difference in the sexual functions of patients before and after LEEP.
